Mammoth

Alright, so I'll start out by telling you a bit about this Mammoth. Mammoth is referring to the high altitude mountain place, not the prehistoric creature. The top twenty of our team of one hundred and ten get to do high altitude training in Mammoth every summer. As I previously stated, the top twenty are the fast people. Too fast, if you ask me... Anyway, it is a real honor to be invited to train up in the higher altitude and a lot of fun.

This has been a goal of mine since last summer. It was alright that I didn't make it last year because I had just started, but this year is the year that I have to start picking everything up and doing a lot more. The sole objective in my mind to keep me going on runs was Mammoth.

So, I did the top workouts everyday, whether I was injured or not. I talked to my coach about whether or not I was close and he said I was definitely in consideration. Two weeks prior to the camp (yesterday), I found out that my coach had emailed all those who were going and I had not received an email. I decided to talk to him at practice and he said I would be going, but I hadn't responded to his email. (It was a test email to see if you check his emails every day). But, I did respond, I responded the morning he sent it. I showed it to him on my phone and later that day when he tried to send me the Mammoth info, it didn't come through. This was because the strange spelling of my name. He typed Scarlet, the other girl on the team, rather than Scarrlet (with two r's).

Long story short, after much technology failure, I got invited to Mammoth! I am super excited for it! It should be really awesome! And then when we come back to sea level, I'll be much better because of the training with less oxygen! How awesome! So, I'm super excited. Just shows you that you really have to work for things in life, and never let go.

See ya, peeps!
~Scarrlet
